Before issuing your new licence disc:
• All vehicles on your ID number will need to be up to date.

Yes, you will be able to get your license even if you have fines.
You will not get a license disc if you have a warrant of arrest linked to your ID number.

Only the titleholder can get a Duplicate Registration Certificate. He will need to go to the nearest licensing office to apply for a new certificate.

No, you only pay a pro-rata fee. They calculate this from the issued date of the disc until the current date.
The new expiry date will be a year from the current date.

Any account statement, Bank statement, Utility bill, TV license or Telephone bill.
All documents must not be older than 3 months when presented. The documents must be in your name as per your ID document.

Only vehicles registered in Cape Town may be renewed at the City of Cape Town Licensing Offices. The exception is if you are relocating to Cape Town.

Give the following documents to the buyer:

• the original registration paper and
• a completed Notice of Change of Ownership form(NCO Form)

This will remove the vehicle from your name and register it to the buyer.
Please note a Change of Ownership cannot take place if the license fees are not up to date.

A roadworthy is valid for exactly 60 days from the date of roadworthiness.

You will have a grace period of 22 days to renew your license disc before any penalties occur.
Please note: you can still receive fines for an expired license disc once the license expires.
