An Easy Guide to License Disc Renewal that ANYONE can Follow!!
License Disc Renewal: Do you remember the first time you needed to do it? I remember my first time. There were forms, documents, and queues! I was panicked that I would not receive the documents on time and would end up with a fine…It was not a fun experience.
The reason I started Speedy Bobs Vehicle Licensing Services was to provide an efficient, hassle-free way for others to not go through what I had. We’ve looked for ways to make your license disc renewal as easy as possible. And, we’ve put together an easy-to-follow guide on how to do it.
What you should do
Step 1:
Contact Speedy Bobs Vehicle Licensing Services We will take care of all the paperwork, and queues and answer any questions you may have.
Step 2:
We will ask you to send us the following documents:
Copy of your Identity Document
Picture of your Driver’s License
Picture of the Licence Disc (on vehicle)
Proof of residential address (e.g., utility account, bank statement)
For a vehicle registered in a Business/company’s name, you will need to submit the following:
BRNC or Registration certificate of a company owned vehicle
identity document of proxy
Proof of address in the Company name (e.g., utility account, bank statement)
Picture of the Licence Disc (on vehicle)
Step 3:
We submit all the documents to the Traffic Licence Department
Step 4:
After we receive the new licence, we will send you your invoice. Then we’ll send a colour scanned copy of the licence disc.
All you need to do is pay the fee specified on the invoice.
Step 5:
Confirm your delivery address so we can deliver your documents
Step 6:
Do a Happy Dance – You have completed your license disc renewal!
When to Renew your License Disc:
You need to do licence disc renewal every year before it expires. If you don’t, you will be liable to pay late licensing penalties and arrears after 21 day grace period. (You can get a traffic fine after the expiry date)
How long does it take for License Disc Renewal?
After we receive all the required documents, we will submit them to the licensing office. The ETA* is approximately 10 working days.
*We will keep you updated if there is any reason the ETA should exceed this
How much does License Disc Renewal cost?
This is dependent on the weight of your vehicle and/or if you have any outstanding arrears. Below is an example of what you could pay:

Speedy Bobs will charge a service fee of R200,00.
For every additional vehicle it’s R120,00. (This includes delivery within the City of Cape Town.)
